SANTEE, Calif. – In 2014, the San Diego Christian College Baseball team accomplished feats no other Hawks team ever did.
Some of those achievements were most wins (42), Golden State Athletic Conference Regular Season Champions, NAIA Opening Round Champions, NAIA World Series Finalists, and highest NAIA Top 25 ranking (5).
With 18 graduating seniors, including three MLB Draft selections, the 2015 Hawks baseball team looks to repeat what their predecessors did last year.
Newly appointed head coach, Landon Burt, starts that mission tomorrow as they welcome William Jessup in the season opener at Grossmont College at 2 p.m. It is also the first ever games for the Warriors, as the school added baseball to compete in the GSAC this year.
After the early GSAC meeting between WJU, SDC will head to Cal State San Marcos for a single game on Tuesday and will play at Westmont over the weekend of Jan. 30-31 for a 3-game series. Westmont defeated the Hawks in the GSAC Tournament Finals twice to claim the title and get an automatic bid into the NAIA Opening Round.
Other notable games include a home series against No. 20 The Master's College Feb. 6-7, and immediately following; SDC will host perennial powerhouse and No. 2 Lewis-Clark State for a double-header on Feb. 10 at Grossmont College.
SDC will play a total of 20 games against NAIA Preseason Top 25 opponents or teams that are receiving votes, which includes six against The Master's, Concordia (18), and Westmont (RV).
The Hawks will play their last home series against Vanguard on April 1-2 before ending the year on a 10-game road trip.
