FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Traveling 474 miles overnight after playing San Diego State the night before, the Hawks fell to another NCAA Div. I opponent this time at the hands of Northern Arizona 71-45 Sunday afternoon.
Peter Beale-Wirsing (SR/San Diego, CA) led the team with eight points and grabbed two rebounds. Rafael Rodriguez (SR/Santiago, Dominican Republic), Derrick Thompson (SR/San Diego, CA), and Mark Eden (FR/Ontario, CA) all tallied seven apiece.
The Hawks were held to 30.9 percent from the floor and went 4-of-16 from beyond the arc. SDC forced 14 Lumberjack turnovers and limited their mistakes to 11.
Beale-Wirsing scored the first points for the Hawks in the game at the 17:54 mark in the first quarter.
Rodriguez then made one of his three-point jumpers with 11:39 remaining in the half as SDC was behind 12-7. That would be the closest the Hawks would get in the game.
SDC will get back into regular season play traveling to Point Loma on Wednesday. Tipoff against the NCAA Div. II Sea Lions at 4 p.m.
