MALIBU, Calif. -- The Hawks started off well in their exhibition game against Pepperdine University as they were tied at the break 35-35. SDC shot 41 percent from the floor in the first half but cooled off in the second as the Wave defeated SDC 81-68 Saturday night.
After shooting 43 percent from the floor in the first, Pepperdine was red-hot in the second half shooting 62 percent. The Wave ended the night shooting at a 52 percent clip from the floor.
Pepperdine dominated down low in the paint scoring 46 of their points in the key. SDC managed just 24 points.
There were seven lead changed and eight tied scores. The Hawks held their largest lead by three points at the 19:18 minute mark in the first.
Pepperdine's Stacy Davis led all scorers with 24 points. Brenden Lane tallied a double with 12 points and 14 rebounds.
The Hawks are back at home against Claremont-Mudd University on Friday. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
