Santa Barbara, Calif.—The stretch of NCAA Division I games for the San Diego Christian College men's basketball team is nearing a close, as the Hawks fell to UC Santa Barbara 87-60 on Saturday night. The game leaves a matchup the Cal State Northridge on Tuesday as the remaining D-I exhibition game on the Hawks' schedule.
UCSB moves to 4-5 with the win. SDCC remains 3-3 as the game was marked as an exhibition for the Hawks.
The Gauchos recaptured the lead, but the Hawks kept it close early on. UCSB took control with a 27-10 run over the final 10 minutes of the first half to take a 46-24 lead heading into halftime.
The second half saw SDCC match UCSB the entire way. Until a late run by the Gauchos, SDCC was outscoring UCSB 27-21 in the second half with nine minutes remaining. UCSB then used a 22-11 run to close the game out and capture the win.
SDCC shot 12-24 (50.0%) in the second half from the field after shooting7-27 (25.9%) in the first half.
The Hawks had three players score in double figures. Rodriguez led the way with 14 points. Kevin Dawson had 12 points and Brandon added 11.
SDCC wraps up their exhibition portion of the schedule against Cal State Northridge on December 18. Game time is 7:05pm
