SANTEE, Calif. – A trio of Hawks were named to the All-GSAC Softball Team on Wednesday.
The trio weren't new to the award as all three earned the award last year. Shelbianne Evans, Kendra Kuper and Jordan Neal helped the Hawks reach the GSAC Tournament with a 24-21 record and an 11-13 conference slate.
Evans was one of two catchers named to the team. She led the team with a .403 average and led with 50 hits and 14 doubles. She finished the regular season with two homers and 30 RBI.
Kuper appeared in 41 games with a 21-19 record. In her 231.2 innings pitched, she struck out 173 batters, which is a school-record in a season. Kuper also ranks second in the NAIA in total innings and ninth in total wins.
Neal was second on the team with a .368 average. She did lead the team in homers with eight and RBI with 37. Her 49 hits on the year only trail Evans, by one.
The trio will look to get the Hawks into the NAIA Opening Round Tournament for the first time in school history. They start their quest Tuesday at Vanguard playing against Hope International as the tournament's No. 5 seed.
