The Hawks baseball team made a Thursday out of conference stop at Shepherd University on their way to conference foe William Jessop on Friday and Saturday. Behind the strong shutout pitching of Logan Taylor (1-1), Matt Meggars, Leo Soto, and Michael Horton, SDC used three multiple run offensive innings to secure an 11-0 win. This moved their record to 10-13 for the season.
The Hawks opened the scoring in the first with a leadoff walk to Steven Pico, followed by a double to left for Justin Hawkins. With one out, Caeden Barnes drove in both runners with a 2 RBI single. Barnes later scored on Brock Mosier's single for a 3-0 lead.
Hawkins opened the third inning with a leadoff triple to center, scoring on an error by the Shepherd pitcher (Bozoian reached on the error). Barnes singled in Vahn Bozoian for the second run of the inning, and he also scored on an error by the shortstop (Mosier reached base). Brooks Fages connected for a double to score Mosier for the fourth run and an early 7-0 lead.
The final big inning was in the fifth for another 4 runs. Mosier walked and Bobby Mead singled to put runners at the corners. Fages drove in the first run on a single, and after Austin Yeoman loaded the bases getting hit by the pitch, Pico drove in 2 more with a single to right field. Yeoman scored on the throw finishing the scoring and an 11-0 victory.
