ANAHEIM, Calif. – After winning the first game of the season and dropping the next two, the SDC men's basketball team got back in the win column with a 73-62 victory against Chapman University on Saturday night.
Their record evens out at 2-2 while Chapman drops their first game of the year and is now 1-1.
Hayden Fredrick scored the first points of the game with the first shot from either team. Fredrick added a 3-pointer to give the Hawks their largest lead of the half at 19-13. Chapman was only able to grab a small one point lead a couple of times in the first as SDC led for most of it.
The Hawks would not relinquish their lead the rest of the way. Milan highlighted the game with a dunk from Milan with eight seconds left to give the Hawks their 72nd and 73rd points.
SDC shot 48.1 percent from the floor and grabbed 39 rebounds. The turned the ball over a season-low six times while forcing nine turnovers from Chapman.
The Hawks will return to the court on Tuesday as they travel to Cal State San Marcos with a tipoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
