ROCKLIN, Calif. – Competing in their last meet of the season, the men's and women's cross country teams ran well but both finished ninth Saturday morning in the GSAC Championships hosted by William Jessup.
The men's team finished with 239 points, 14 shy of eighth place behind Menlo. Daniel Camacho finished first for SDC in 57th place with a time of 29:47.3 in the 8K race. Hunter Ennis backed him up with a time of 33:02.3 in 65th place. Peter Gomez (33:08.2, 67th), Joseph Arellano (35:57.8, 71st) and Ty Maxwell (36:51.1, 72nd) rounded out the runners.
The women's team finished with 241 points, 19 shy of the eighth spot Menlo as well. Liliana Gomez-Garza finished the fastest for SDC. She finished in 60th place with a time of 21:59.5 in the 5K race. Susan Peralta finished next for the Hawks in 67th place and a time of 22:50.7. Mayra Espitia was right behind Peralta in 68th place and six seconds after. Heather Borsos (71st, 23:26.1), Jazmine Swindler (76th, 24:52.8) and Aleksandra Emelianova (77th, 25:02.7) completed the runners for the Hawks.
