SAN DIEGO – Errors played a huge factor in the second exhibition game against UCSD in three days.
The Hawks committed four errors to give UCSD 10 runs as the Tritons took the game 10-1 Tuesday night.
The game didn't count for either team, so both still sit with no win/loss record.
It was a pitchers duel to start the contest as neither team plated a runner. The Tritons scored two in the bottom of the fifth, both runs unearned.
Errors again were an issue for the Hawks in the sixth as three miscues turned into seven runs for UCSD. And again, the runs were unearned thanks to the errors. Young pitched two innings allowing the nine runs. He struck out one.
UCSD added another in the bottom of the seventh to increase their lead to 10-1.
Seven different Hawks tallied a hit. Vizcaino was the only player to register an RBI.
The Hawks will have one more tune up game before the regular season starts as they travel to Cal Baptist on Thursday with the first pitch slated for 5 p.m.
