Oaks Score Three-Unanswered to Defeat Women's Soccer

ATHERTON, Calif. — The SDC women's soccer team scored a goal late in the first half but it wasn't enough as the Menlo Oaks scored three in the second half to defeat the Hawks 3-1 Thursday.


With the loss, the Hawks fall to 4-7 on the season and 0-5 in conference play. The Oaks improved to 5-4-2 on the year and grabbed their first conference win, improving to 1-3-1.


Alissa Munguia scored off a Sumer Willey pass in the 44th minute to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead.


Menlo got on the board and tied the game in the 62nd minute and later took the lead in the 65th. The Oaks capped all scoring in the 85th minute.


The Oaks outshot the Hawks 24-4 in the game. Sandra Rivas was in goal for the Hawks and collected seven saves.


SDC will look to grab their first conference win against William Jessup on Saturday.
