Women's Volleyball Earns First GSAC Win of Season Over Jessup

ROCKLIN, Calif. – The SDC women's volleyball team grabbed their first conference win of the season in a 5-setter match against William Jessup on Saturday.

The win improves the Hawks' record to 7-10 on the season and improves their conference record to 1-6. The Warriors fall to 15-8 on the season and 2-5 in GSAC play.

SDC grabbed the first set. Tied 16-16 in the first the Hawks finished the set on a 9-3 run. They dropped sets two and three before tying the match after the Hawks won the fourth set. After quickly falling 2-0 in the set, the Hawks grabbed the lead at 3-2 and never looked back to the tune to a 7-0 run. SDC grabbed the fourth set with ease to force the decisive fifth set.

Tied 1-1 in the fifth, the Hawks grabbed the second point of the match thanks to a kill from Anekka Guy. SDC led the rest of the way. A setting error, a kill by Taylor Brydon and an attacking error by the Warriors gave the Hawks the victory.

Samantha Tago, Melissa Pittelkau and Brydon all had 10 kills. Guy was next with seven with 11 digs. Nina Wyer led the Hawks in assists with 24. Katie Patterson was next with 13.

SDC will face Cetys Universidad in a scrimmage on Friday but won't have a countable game until Oct. 13 against Life Pacific.
